Anna Gurine Andersdatter Ringstad (1873 - 1951) and Hans Petter Pederson Drege (1877 - 1951) bought the land between Litleelva and Storelva, called Øyna in 1904 and built a hotel on that land in 1917.

Dreges Hotel was soon a well known hotel in this district.

After World War 2, they experienced the need for an extension of the hotel and build a new wing.

In 1951 their daughter Aslaug and her husbond Helge Hellebust took over the hotel and build a new block building, but only got the exteriors finished before their son, Inge Hellebust, took over and finished the building.

He ran the hotel up till the 1960s, where the hotel was bought by Mr. Haagensen from Ålesund.

He knocked down the oldest building and put up a huge block building with 4 floors, restaurant, and conference facilities. Mr Axel Springer, who was visiting Norway in the 70ties, build a swimming pool and donated it to the hotel in 1974.

Stranda Hotel has gone trough many name changes upon the years.
It started in 1917 with Dreges Hotel, Müllerhotel Storfjord, Müllerhotel Stranda, Stranda

Hotel, Sporthotel Stranda and back to the best alternative Stranda Hotel in 1987, witch we have been called ever since.

In 2007 we will celebrate our 90th anniversary.
